A 6.8-magnitude earth quake in Nepal India Border -

A 6.8 magnitude earthquake was felt in  the northern India  state of Sikkim Sunday night.  This was reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the quake was about 43 miles from Gangtok the capital city of the Sikkim state.  It was approximately about 80 miles from Kathmandu, capital of Nepal.

Preliminary report from the local administration claims 3 deaths in Lazimpath area of the town and some wall damage at the British Embassy.  This is not a confirmed report.

The earthquake, which struck around 6 p.m. local time (8:40 a.m. ET) was recorded to be at a depth of 12.9 miles below the surface of the earth, as per the US Geological Survey.
