In light of the major 6.9 earthquake that struck the Himalayan Region on September 18th., we are organizing an emergency Hackathon – Date: Sept 25th 2011 – 9 AM to 4 PM PST – we encourage remote participation. The event is being organized by Global Nepal Professional Network (GNPN – aka CAN-USA).

Background and Objective

The Hackathon will result in the creation of a portal to manage information flow real-time in the event of a disaster.  The portal will be designed to emulated the highly effective portal that was used during the Japan Tsunami Crisis. It will be built using Google appengine (open source) or Ushahidi (open source) or a mixture of both.
