Pokhara sub-metropolis draws flak

POKHARA: Citizens’ Pressure Group for Development has drawn the attention of office-bearers of Pokhara sub-metropolis over its poor performance in meeting minimum conditions and standards.


The sub-metropolis falls in 56th position among the 58 municipalities of the country as per the assessment of work performance and standards.


With this, the sub-metropolis has ceased the chance to receive a grant of Rs 75.6 million provided by the Ministry of Local Development.


The Ministry has placed the Pokhara sub-metropolis in 56th position for not carrying out audits on time and not having cleared 80 per cent of the advance worth Rs. 100,000, told Ram Prasad Subedi of the Citizens’ Pressure Group.


The sub-metropolis also witnessed poor performance in following the stipulated process of procurement, he said, adding procuring goods without planning has indicated poor performance.


The sub-metropolis had made clearance the dues only 56 plans out of 166.


The pressure group comprising civil society, people with disabilities, single women, tole development organizations, NGOs and other community-based organizations demanded action against the guilty by fairly investigating into the case.

Receiving the memorandum, Executive Officer of the sub-metropolis, Meghnath Kafle said the sub-metropolis took the responsibility for the poor performance and pledged such will not repeat in coming days.
